My Incarcerated Loved Ones

While proclaiming values of liberty and justice for all, the United States incarcerates human beings at a greater rate than any other nation in the world -- "disappearing" millions of human beings and silencing their voices. 

Rooted in relationships, this multimedia-film project tells some of these silenced stories. The project begins with interviews of people who have been incarcerated, as well as loved ones of incarcerated people. Each person interviewed is a loved one of another person interviewed, centering relationships and community.

The lived experiences of people who have been incarcerated, as well as those who have incarcerated loved ones, open up pathways toward another way of life—one that centers repair rather than retribution, relationship rather than sequestration, and human needs rather than just desserts.

We plan to release the project in fall of 2026.
